Goleta Pier Rendezvous

It was early winter 1981 when I started to notice large groups of Vietnamese fishing off Goleta Pier. They literally lined both sides for over half the span to the very end. You could tell instinctively that they were well acquainted with the sea and old hands at fishing. I thought it was an amazing site, so I told Pa.

Pa, the committed columnist, made it down for a look. But that day only half the number I had seen were there. And, there was a more, shall we say, ethnic mix. Oh well. Pa got a story (I think), and I got great pictures of Pa. And in the end, I caught Curt walking his bike up the pier too.
